Customer Reviews

“WOW!”
Really, wow! The views are stunning, I think it’s safe to say there isn’t a bad table in the place, because of the panoramic views and huge windows. The best margarita I’ve ever had was followed by the best vegetarian dish (cheese and aubergine). The menu doesn’t look like it will blow you away, but the food does. Fantastic garlicky garlic bread…in fact, everything we ordered was amazing. There are a lot of great places in Cambridge, but this is a complete winner and we will definitely return. As an added bonus, the birthday boy got a free drink. Nice touch!

The restaurant has a nice view also, all in all i would definitely recommend!

“Lovely Evening Dinner and Drinks”
Beautiful setting, on top of the Varsity hotel, has an amazing roof bar where we had cocktails before going down to eat. No bad table in the house ours overlooked the river and university others over the green. My lamb was perfect and side dishes were generous. My husband went for the flat iron which he had trouble finishing. Couldn’t face dessert so we did a nutella martini and new york something both delicious and not too heavy. We went back up to the roof bar to finish our evening. Lovely informal evening.

“Superb Saturday Lunch Party”
We enjoyed our anniversary lunch for sixteen in the Six restaurant on a busy Saturday in April. Attentive staff. Delicious food – generous portions, well cooked, served simultaneously. Our guests enjoyed an imaginative range of cocktails, mocktails and wines.
We would like to express our appreciation for help in arranging our celebration, and comfortable overnight accommodation, to Tariq Mahmoud (Manager) and Gemma White, (Events Manager). On the day Paula, (Restaurant Manager) guided our choice of wines and ensured everything went to plan.
This is a lovely venue to which we will certainly return.

“Best Cocktails in Cambridge, PERFECT date place”
If your a fan of Sex and the city you will love this place. We had a lovely evening here today. My friend booked as she’d been to the roof bar before and said it was classy. We had a warm welcome from the receptionist who led us to the bar, we ordered two burlesque martini’s. Was worth navigating the tricky stairs for the views from outdoor terrace though it was a bit cold. Headed back down to a busy bar, service was quick though could do with being a bit quicker. We did an appletini and honey daiquiri which were good. Didn’t have the appetite for mains so shared starters, crab avocado salad, burrata and mussels with truffle chips. Good size portions. We finished off back at the bar met some lovely guys from London and ended up doing a few more rounds. Perfect night out would recommend.

“Afternoon Tea is Truly Sensational”
We visited SIX for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The host, Tariq, took note of the special occasion and wished her Happy Birthday on arrival, which was a really nice touch! We were given a beautiful table by the window, with a truly stunning view of Cambridge. The waiting staff were very friendly and polite, when showing us to the table, taking our orders and explaining the choices of tea. The tea! Such a fantastic, bespoke selection, with sample to smell to get an idea of how they would taste. I went for Granny’s Kitchen, which had a flavour reminiscent of some distant childhood boiled sweet, something I could not put my finger on, but was a welcome and refreshing change! The afternoon tea itself was fantastically presented, with very tasty finger sandwiches, fresh scones with cream and jam, and finally some fantastic freshly made cakes, which were just amazing! We partook of a cocktail or two in the bar and on the roof terrace. What a fantastic addition to the Cambridge summer this place is! We had a wonderful day between spa treatments at the glassworks spa (part of the same hotel), the afternoon tea at SIX and drink on the roof (special thanks to Sophie and Kirk for booking us in!). I’ll be telling everyone that this is the place to visit in Cambridge! Great staff. Great food. Great all round!

“Another Lovely Visit”
Great ambiance, great food and friendly helpful staff. Enjoyed a lovely sunny evening starting with cocktails then a lovely dinner, nothing chosen disappointed. The beetroot and goats cheese was both very generous and delicious, the steaks were very tasty and the apple and belly pork delicious. Great choice of cocktails as ever, lovely ambiance. felt valued as a local who visit either for just drinks or dinner in six or the steakhouse by a nice chat with, Tariq who was in charge of customer services for hotel . Always a good evening and look forward to our next visit.

“Great Food and Cocktails in a Relaxed Place”
We went as a group on Friday night and all tried the cocktails and different things on the menu. I went for the vegetarian option halloumi with aubergines. My boyfriend had the flat iron steak which was huge and my brother had the pork belly with spinach. Portion sizes are generous. Highlight of the evening was our attempt to drink around the world, Cuba libre, Manhattan, Singapore sling etc .I played it safe with a Nutella martini which was delicious. Menu is reliable with all the classics. Good choice for a fun night.
